Thomas J. D’Amato

Director

Mr. D’Amato’s practice encompasses all forms of civil litigation in state and federal courts.  Chief among his areas of expertise are professional liability defense (lawyers, directors and officers, insurance brokers and design professionals), commercial and business litigation, intellectual property, real estate, employment and personal injury.  Mr. D’Amato has tried cases to jury verdict, to judicial decision and before administrative bodies when disputes cannot be resolved through dispositive motion or alternative dispute resolution.  Mr. D’Amato also maintains an active appellate practice.

In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. D’Amato counsels individuals, businesses, homeowners’ associations and other organizations in a wide array of issues, including operations and governance, compliance, risk management,  intellectual property, real estate, employment, contracts and other personal and business matters.

Professional Contributions

Active in the nationwide legal community, Mr. D’Amato is member of the Defense Research Institute and serves on the Professional Liability Steering Committee and as the Young Lawyers Committee Liaison to the Professional Liability Committee.  He is also member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society.  At home in California, Mr. D’Amato is a member of the Bar Associations of San Francisco and Contra Costa counties.

Community Contributions

Mr. D’Amato is the Vice-President of the Board of Directors for Diablo Valley Montessori School and is a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, San Francisco Lodge No. 3.  He has also been a volunteer mock trial coach at San Francisco’s Thurgood Marshall High School.  Mr. D’Amato served as General Counsel to the San Francisco Republican Party from 2003 to 2008 and was involved in numerous local, state and national election oversight committees and litigation teams.
