Arthur V. Pearson is a founding
member of Murphy, Pearson, Bradley & Feeney. He specializes in accounting
and tax malpractice defense as well as tax and
business transactions. Over his career, he has
handled thousands of malpractice cases, trying
over 50 cases to verdict. Mr. Pearson is rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell.
He has lectured in American Institute
of Certified Public Accountants-sponsored programs
throughout the Western United States since 1994,
as well as to accounting firms and insurance societies.
A large percentage of accounting
malpractice claims involve tax issues. Many of
these can be resolved by dealing directly with
the tax authorities to fix late elections, reduce
or eliminate penalties, or otherwise mitigate
the tax situation out of which the claim arises.
Mr. Pearson advocates aggressive handling of the underlying tax issues
to facilitate resolution of such claims prior to extensive
discovery or trial.
