Thomas Tuon is an associate in the San Francisco office whose practice focuses on intellectual property transactions, data privacy counseling, and professional liability and taxation litigation. Combining experience in both transactional and controversy matters, Thomas helps clients navigate licensing, compliance, and corporate structuring issues that arise at the intersection of innovation and regulation. He assists individuals, startups, and established companies in protecting their intangible assets, managing risk, and ensuring compliance with evolving state and federal frameworks.

Before joining the firm, Thomas worked as an intellectual property paralegal for an Am Law 100 firm, where he gained hands-on experience with patent litigation and IP portfolio management. During and after law school, he worked with a global tax practice advising on multistate apportionment, gross receipts tax, and compliance strategies for companies spanning technology, sports, and financial services industries.

Thomas earned his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law, where he received the Intellectual Property & Technology Law Certificate with honors and served two terms as editor for USF’s Intellectual Property Law Journal. He also served as social chair for USF’s Students in Taxation and Estate Planning Society. Outside of practice, Thomas supports a San Francisco–based nonprofit and enjoys staying active through golf and hockey.
