Our Summer Associate Program is designed for law students seeking hands-on experience in civil litigation. The program runs from the beginning of June through the end of July and offers meaningful exposure to the day-to-day practice of litigation within our firm.

We give preference to rising second-year law students who have demonstrated an interest in civil litigation and trial practice, with a focus on defense. Our offices are located in San Francisco, Sacramento, Los Angeles, and Seattle.

Summer Associate Responsibilities

We seek attorneys and staff who enjoy intellectual athleticism, a strong sense of teamwork, and a supportive professional environment that recognizes skilled individuals for their superior work.

Summer Associates are expected to work in the office five days per week to participate fully in mentorship opportunities and collaborate closely with our attorneys and staff. Summer associates will work closely with attorneys on real matters across litigation and related practice areas, gaining practical exposure to research, drafting, case strategy, discovery, and courtroom preparation.

Throughout the program, clerks will attend hearings, depositions, client meetings, and training sessions, while receiving regular feedback and mentorship from both partners and associates. The goal is to give summer associates meaningful day-to-day experience in a collaborative trial-focused environment and a clear sense of what it is like to practice at the firm.

Graduating candidates who successfully complete the Summer Associate Program may be considered for full-time associate positions following passage of the bar examination.
