A founding shareholder of Murphy Pearson, Arthur’s practice focuses on accounting and tax malpractice defense, as well as representing clients in tax and business transactions. His deep experience with complex taxation issues, combined with years of successful representation of clients in jury trials, allows him to create strategies that include assertive handling of underlying tax matters to facilitate claim resolution prior to extensive discovery or trial.
Over the course of his career, Arthur has forged a proven methodology for dealing directly with the tax authorities to correct late elections, reduce or eliminate penalties, or otherwise mitigate tax situations in ways that yield positive results for clients time and again.
For accountants and tax professionals, Arthur has handled thousands of malpractice cases, trying more than 50 cases to verdict.
A respected leader in the field, Arthur has authored or contributed to many articles and educational materials on taxation issues and accounting malpractice risk management for the AICPA, the California Society of CPAs, and various professional liability carriers. A highly requested lecturer on the subject of tax and accounting malpractice risk management, he has addressed AICPA-sponsored events, individual accounting firms, accountants and attorneys for malpractice insurance carriers, and accountants’ state and business organizations and governing bodies.
