Matthew is an associate practicing out of Murphy Pearson’s San Francisco office. Matthew approaches his legal practice with a commitment to deeply understanding his clients’ needs and anticipating potential risks and likely outcomes. He represents clients in litigation in a variety of areas including professional liability, commercial litigation, and corporate compliance with a focus on data privacy compliance.

As a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) with the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), he advises clients in matters involving data privacy and information security. As a Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) with the Society Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) he advises on corporate governance and ABAC issues (Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption).

Matthew’s past experience covers a variety of areas across the legal field including clerking for two trial court judges with split civil/criminal dockets, working as a legislative aide for a U.S. Congressman on the House Financial Services Committee, F.E.C. compliance for a successful campaign for U.S. Senate, and advising businesses on campaign contribution compliance. His expertise includes building and developing corporate compliance programs, advising clients on matters involving data privacy compliance, and due diligence on third parties and M&A targets. He has guided high-profile and multi-billion-dollar clients through complex and high-stakes government actions with significant potential liabilities.

Matthew has developed a keen insight into advising clients through matters involving reputational risks and public scrutiny. Matthew enjoys staying up-to date on the latest developments at the intersection of law and technology including implementations of Generative Artificial Intelligence and its legal implications for clients.

He also has a passion for public service and helping the community through pro bono work. He graduated from law school with a Highest Pro Bono Honors Distinction, previously represented indigent clients on a pro bono basis in immigration court, land-land tenant court, and he taught free classes on chapter 7 bankruptcy to the community.
