Expertise, Diversity & Growth Define Firm’s Seattle Office

Long before Zoom, virtual backgrounds and home offices, Murphy Pearson (MPBF) attorney Nick Larson needed to relocate from San Francisco and work remotely from Washington state. MPBF agreed to this arrangement on a trial basis. Nearly a decade later it is clear that this arrangement did not simply function, it thrived. Nick expanded the firm’s practice across the entire Pacific Northwest, was elevated to shareholder and managing partner of the Seattle office he founded.

Nick’s professional journey began with a desire to find a way to make a difference. Born and raised in Seattle, Nick moved to the Bay Area to attend Stanford University. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and Psychology, followed by his Master of Arts in Psychology. After graduation, he worked in management consulting as a Senior Policy Analyst for the U.S Government Accountability Office (GAO). Once he graduated from the University of San Francisco School of Law, Nick interned at MPBF as a summer law clerk. Subsequently, he externed for the Honorable William H. Aslup of the US District Court for the Northern District of California.

After passing the CA bar exam, Nick furthered his passion for the law, working as an associate at MPBF with clients he cared about and being a part of a company where he felt truly valued. After several years as an attorney in San Francisco, Nick’s professional path faced a fork in the road, as his wife was offered a job opportunity at the University of Washington, and the chance for them both to return to their hometown. Recognizing Nick’s value to the company, MPBF was determined to keep him on board.

Though largely unheard of at the time, Nick began working remote nearly a decade ago, taking cases in both Washington and California and making a name for himself as a successful attorney across the West Coast. Regarding the firm’s decision to support Nick in his move, shareholder Tip Mazzucco said, “MPBF is committed to mentoring and training the next generation of professional and ethical trial lawyers in a collegial and familial environment. Nick was a big part of our family, and we were eager to keep him on our team”.

Nick established the Seattle office in 2014. The team has since grown to a half dozen trial attorneys with diverse backgrounds in a variety of practice areas. These practice areas include professional liability, employment, business, real estate and construction, trust and estates, tax, privacy and cybersecurity, and white-collar defense.

Substantial growth, diverse expertise and proven successes have been the defining characteristics of MPBF’s Seattle office. It is the wide spectrum of backgrounds, interests and professional experiences of their attorneys that form this uniquely well-rounded team.

While reflecting on his journey from MPBF law clerk to shareholder, Nick said, “I’m fortunate that my mentors at MPBF recognized my potential and supported me even in uncharted territory. As the managing partner in our Seattle office, I am committed to developing a diverse, highly credentialed, multifaceted team so we can continue to provide our clients with the best service and help as many individuals and businesses as we can.”
